"This is an amazing nonfiction book about the cholera outbreak of 1854 in the city of London. John Snow diligently investigates the source of disease and finally is able to prove the Broad Street pump has water contaminated by sewege. This overturns the more popular theory of the time, miasmic or foul air as the cause. The "ghost map" technique has ben successfully applied to modern day urban areas around the world."

I agree. This was one of the best non-fiction titles published in the last 5 years. The methodoloy used by Dr. John Snow to uncover the source of the London cholera outbreak are still in use today. Sometimes, dogged pursuit of the truth pays off -- for the betterment of all humankind.
