"An intriguing , complicated, ambititous book which tackles issues in Black America ranging from religion to the acceptance of invisibility. As Black and White worlds collide, Ellison notes how white America uses violence and destruction to gain and maintain power. I found the basic plotline intriguing, but was less impressed by the flights of fantasy and dreamlike sequences employed during the many soliloquies and expansions of character's thoughts. I was very disappointed that the novel ended so abruptly. "
