"A Pulitzer prize winner- excellent book! I will read this one again. The story involves slavery in the south- but not the usual white master/black slave- it centers around a time when free blacks also owned slaves, interracial relationships, family issues (both black and white), and the complexity of human beings in general. Somewhat difficult narrative but worth the effort!"
